Neuromodulator Aftercare
To support your recovery and help avoid any adverse reactions, it is important to follow your aftercare instructions carefully.
Your treatment today used a neuromodulator, a prescription medicine that works by temporarily relaxing targeted muscles or reducing nerve activity in the treated area. The product used in your treatment was one of the following: Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Letybo, or Relfydess. If you have any questions about the specific product used, please speak with your Registered Nurse or Doctor.
Immediately after your treatment, you may experience mild tenderness, bruising, and swelling around the injection sites. This is common and should resolve over the next 24 hours. If bruising occurs, this may take 1–2 weeks to completely resolve.
You may experience a mild headache following your treatment, particularly after your first-ever neuromodulator treatment. If you require pain relief, take paracetamol as directed on the label.
For the 24 hours following your appointment:
Stay upright for at least 4 hours post-treatment
Keep the treatment area clean
Do not touch or rub the treated area
Use only quality mineral makeup and gently apply with a clean brush
No strenuous exercise
No saunas, heat therapy or excessive sweating
Avoid alcohol
Avoid medications such as aspirin and ibuprofen.
For 3 days following your appointment:
No face-down massages
Avoid excessive sun exposure
Avoid excessive heat, such as saunas and strenuous exercise.
For 2 weeks following your appointment:
Avoid other aesthetic treatments unless approved by your Nurse or Doctor
Avoid beauty treatments (waxing, peels, laser hair removal) to the treated area
Apply a good quality SPF daily.
Results and longevity
Onset, peak effectiveness, and longevity of your neuromodulator treatment will vary depending on your treatment area, drug, dose, anatomy, metabolism, and treatment history. Your clinician will guide you on what to expect for your specific treatment.
You may begin to notice the effect of your treatment within 3 to 5 days. Allow up to 14 days to see the full effect.
After treatment, it takes about 2 weeks for the neuromodulator to reach peak effectiveness. The height of effectiveness is usually between 2 to 6 weeks. Over the following 10-16 weeks, effectiveness gradually decreases and you will notice some movement returning to the treated area.

Follow-up appointment
At Derm Haus, we offer a complimentary 2-week follow-up appointment to assess the results of your treatment. You can book this via our website or by phone or email.
Dose adjustments, if needed, are generally included in the pricing of your initial treatment. However, follow-ups scheduled beyond the recommended 2-week window are not always clinically appropriate for a dose adjustment. Any additional treatment outside this period is at your clinician's clinical assessment and discretion and may incur an additional fee.
