Skin needling (also known as microneedling or collagen induction therapy) is one of the most effective ways to address a wide range of skin concerns, from acne scarring and enlarged pores to fine lines, uneven pigmentation, and dull, congested skin.
At Derm Haus Brisbane, we take skin needling further than most. Every treatment covers the full face, neck, and décolletage and includes LED Light Therapy as standard - not as an add-on. We also use a specialised menu of potent, medical-grade serums, each selected to target your specific skin concerns and needled directly into the skin - supercharging delivery and results.

How skin needling works
Skin needling uses a medical-grade device fitted with fine, sterile needles that create thousands of micro-channels in the skin. This controlled process (sometimes called collagen induction therapy) triggers the skin's natural healing response, stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin.
The result over a course of treatments is a gradual but meaningful improvement in skin texture, firmness, and clarity. Acne scars become less defined, pores appear smaller, fine lines soften, and pigmentation becomes more even.
At Derm Haus, we use the Exceed by Amiea Med — a clinically proven device that adapts to the contours of the face for consistent, precise needle penetration and minimal trauma to the outer layer of skin.

Skin needling is clinically proven to visibly reduce wrinkles and treat acne scarring, in particular, to reduce the depth of scars and to normalise the skin structure.
At Derm Haus Brisbane, we use a high-end, specialised medical skin needling device that has very tiny needles. The needles lightly penetrate the top layer of the skin in a vibrating manner, delivering thousands of tiny punctures into the skin.
The needles cause what’s known as ‘localised and controlled damage’ - without substantially affecting the structure of the outer layer of your skin. This ‘controlled damage’ begins the regeneration of your skills cells through the natural process of healing. Cue collagen production!
This healing process awakens the deeper layers of the skin cells that produce collagen. This production of collagen improves acne scarring, minimises fine lines, reduces pore size, and improves skin texture.

Skin needling appointments are 50 minutes to 1 hour. Your skin needling appointment begins with a deep cleanse followed by an anti-bacterial solution and sterile topical solution to prepare the skin for treatment. During the treatment, your clinician will apply highly concentrated solutions filled with potent, medical-grade ingredients to your skin. These solutions are tailored to your specific skin and concerns and enhance clinical results.
The treatment involves the skin needling device gliding over the skin in multiple directions, with its sterile needle tips vertically penetrating the skin.
You may experience mild to moderate discomfort during your Skin Needling treatment. Your clinician can adjust the settings on the device to ensure your treatment is well tolerated.
All our skin needling treatments include LED Light Therapy to accelerate cell renewal, minimise downtime and enhance results.
Upon completion of the skin needling, your clinician will apply medical-grade, nutrient-rich serums to stimulate the skin and help with healing.
After the skin needling treatment, you can expect uniform redness, your skin may feel tight and there may be localised bleeding at the treatment site - this is normal.

If you are new to Derm Haus Brisbane or are unsure if skin needling is right for you we highly recommend first booking a Skin Consultation with a Dermal Therapist. They’ll assess your skin and create a custom treatment plan which often includes a tailored prescription of serums to adequately prime your skin for the skin needling treatment.

The number of treatments required will depend on your individual needs and this will be discussed during a Skin Consultation or during your Skin Needling appointment.
We generally recommend a treatment course of 4 to 6 sessions, at 4 week intervals. This helps to continually build your collagen and elastin. Then maintenance treatments at 3, 6 or 12 month intervals.

Exceed is an incredible device that glides gently across the skin with a tilting needling plate that adapts to the surface of the skin to ensure perpendicular needle penetration and minimal epidermal trauma.

Skin needling paired with DMK Enzyme Therapy will further enhance your skin’s texture, pigmentation, redness and oil production at a cellular level.

For best results, we recommend ‘priming’ your skin prior to your needling treatments.
During an initial Skin Consultation, our Dermal Therapist will prescribe serums or nutrient-rich products to adequately prime your skin for the needling treatment.

Recovery time for skin needling is minimal. Immediately after your treatment, your skin will likely have a red, tight, ‘sunburned’ appearance and may feel warm and tender for several hours. This is a normal skin response and should subside in the next 24 to 72 hours. You can apply a cool clean face cloth for comfort.
The initial redness will settle and is normally replaced by dry, tight skin which may shed over the next 7 days. This is part of the healing process and when your new, glowing skin starts to reveal itself.

It is extremely important to follow aftercare instructions following your skin needling treatment. The microscopic puncture wounds from skin needling remain open and your skin is vulnerable to developing irritation or infection. Therefore, careful precautions must be taken to prevent complications and to ensure the best results.
Your clinician will discuss post-treatment care with you during your appointment and provide you with a pamphlet to take home.
