Advanced RF Needling pre-treatment guidelines
Please read and follow these guidelines carefully prior to your Sylfirm X RF Needling appointment. Following these instructions helps ensure your treatment can be safely delivered and your skin is in the best possible condition on the day.
Prior to your appointment, please advise us if any of the following apply to you as Sylfirm X RF Needling may not be suitable for you:
Pacemaker or implantable cardiac defibrillator
Metal implants in the treatment area
Active skin infection, cold sore, or open wound in the treatment area
Active inflammatory skin condition such as cystic acne, eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis in the treatment area
Pregnancy or breastfeeding
History of keloid scarring
Family history or previous history of hyperpigmentation/pigmentation disorders?
Current use of isotretinoin (Accutane/Roaccutane); cease for at least 6 months prior to treatment with prescribing doctor approval
Blood disorders or current use of anticoagulant therapy
Cancer, chemotherapy, or radiotherapy
Epilepsy
Autoimmune or connective tissue disorders
Photo sensitising medications
2 weeks before your appointment:
Avoid skin treatments to the area including laser, IPL, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and aesthetic injectables.
Avoid waxing or hair removal treatments in the treatment area
Avoid sun exposure, fake tanning, etc
1 week before your appointment:
Discontinue retinoids, tretinoin, and vitamin A products
Avoid exfoliating acids including AHAs, BHAs, and glycolic acid
Avoid introducing any new skincare products to your routine
Avoid supplements known to increase bruising such as omega 3/6, fish oils, and vitamin E
Avoid aspirin unless medically necessary, do not cease any prescription medication without first speaking with your prescribing doctor
Focus on supporting your skin barrier with hydrating and calming ingredients, products containing hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and barrier-supporting actives are ideal in the lead-up to your treatment
If you have a darker skin tone or concerns with pigmentation or melasma, it is important that you are using a tyrosinase inhibitor (brightening serum or pigmentation-targeting product) in the weeks prior to your treatment to reduce the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, speak with your clinician if you are unsure which product is appropriate for you
2 days before your appointment:
Avoid non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen; do not cease any prescription medication without first speaking with your prescribing doctor
Avoid excessive alcohol
Drink plenty of water
Day of your appointment:
Arrive with clean skin: no makeup, moisturiser, or skincare products on the treatment area
Avoid sun exposure to the treatment area
Drink at least one litre of water
If you have a history of cold sores, please let us know prior to your appointment. Your clinician may recommend antiviral medication to reduce the risk of a post-treatment outbreak.
