PDO threads aftercare
To support your recovery and help avoid any adverse reactions, it is important to follow your aftercare instructions carefully.
Immediately after your treatment, you may experience mild tenderness, bruising, or stinging in the treatment area. This is common and should resolve over the next week. For swelling and bruising relief, you can apply a cool compress to the treatment area for a few minutes at a time. If you require pain relief, you can take paracetamol.
You may begin to notice the effect of your treatment immediately, however new collagen production occurs for 2 to 6 months. results continue to develop over 2 to 6 months as the skin responds to treatment.
For the 24 hours following your PDO threads appointment:
Keep the area clean
Avoid oil-based skincare and makeup
For 7 days following your PDO threads appointment:
Limit sun exposure
Avoid anti-inflammatory drugs, including aspirin and ibuprofen
Avoid vitamin E, fish oil and ginkgo biloba
Avoid excessive alcohol
Avoid strenuous exercise (walking at a moderate pace is ok)
For the 2 weeks following your PDO threads appointment:
Avoid excess sun exposure to the face. Wear a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily
Avoid facial massage or manipulation of the treated area. Do not press, rub, or push the skin around the entry points
Avoid active skincare ingredients (such as retinol, AHAs, BHAs, and vitamin C) near the entry points until fully healed
Avoid strenuous exercise
Avoid dental treatments
Avoid saunas, spas, and ice baths
Adverse reactions
Please contact us promptly if you experience any of the following:
Excessive or worsening pain, swelling, or discolouration beyond the first few days
Obvious thread protrusion or a thread becoming visible under the skin
Signs of infection including increasing redness, warmth, discharge, or fever
Firm, painful lumps that do not settle within a week
If you experience a high fever, spreading redness, or any symptoms that concern you significantly, seek urgent medical attention and contact us as soon as you are able.
Follow up appointment
