Fat dissolving aftercare
To enjoy the best results from your fat dissolving treatment (aka double chin treatment or jaw sculpting) and to avoid any adverse reactions, it is important to follow your aftercare instructions.
Immediately after your fat dissolving treatment, you may experience mild to moderate swelling and tenderness - this is the product working its magic. You may also notice redness, numbness, bruising, and/or stiffness in the treatment area - this is common and to be expected with this treatment and should resolve over the next 2 weeks.
You may also feel a sense of heaviness or pressure in the area, particularly when lying flat, and notice areas of firmness or lumpiness under the skin. These are normal and should resolve on their own over time.
Numbness or altered sensation can persist for several weeks (up to 12 in some cases) and is part of the healing process.
Cool compress and simple analgesia, such as paracetamol or ibuprofen, can be used to help with any discomfort.
Over the next month you will notice the elimination of fat cells in the treatment area as they are broken down and excreted by your body.
Most patients require between 2 to 4 treatments for optimal results. In some cases, up to 6 sessions may be recommended, depending on the treatment area and individual response. Subsequent treatments must be performed at least 4 to 8 weeks apart. This allows the active ingredient time to target the submental fat and gives your body time to heal in between treatments.
For the 24 hours following your fat dissolving appointment:
Keep the area clean
Do not touch or rub the treated area
Apply a cool compress to any swelling
If you require makeup, use only a quality mineral makeup
Stay upright for the first 4 hours post-treatment
For 3 days following your fat dissolving appointment:
Avoid strenuous exercise, sweating and saunas
Avoid sun exposure
Avoid alcohol, as it can worsen swelling and bruising
For the 2 weeks following your fat dissolving appointment:
Avoid facials, peels, laser hair removal, or waxing in the area
